the bombs and my concerns

August 14th, 2005

i was playing dynomite when i heard an explosion.that was wednesday last week. i told my friend who’s seated beside me " that’s a bomb ", my hands never left the mouse nor did my eyes left the screen however. my foremost concern that very moment was to accumulate as many scores(as if they were money) as possible and go a level up than the previous game. i heard a few screams but the same died down before my last egg hit the floor ( it’s a relief i wasn’t an egg sucker in this round ). the classes were called off and guess what? a lot of people were happy they didn’t have to attend the last class. a few minutes after sir jayz’ announcement that classes were called off, my sister came to say she’s buying me dinner. i wanted mcdo’s large  fries, a cheese burger, large coke and sundae. this time i got worried…shoot! mcdo closed. of all times, the freakin’ bomb had to explode that day and mcdo had to close ( the latter was more or less 0 meters away from the place of explosion , and duh! my workplace’s about 10 meters from mcdo). i hate these terrorists! my sister doesn’t buy me dinner that often….

apparently, my sister was in a really good mood that day she still was willing to buy dinner. we went to j-bee camins ( heh! she even paid for my fare…sweet! ). i got me my fries, crispy hot chicken and a large coke. we were in the middle of the "libre" dinner when all of a sudden j-bee started to turn off the lights at the counter. i thought that was a delayed reaction to the bombing like 30 minutes or so ago. all other shops downtown have closed down. then a man, wearing a black leather jacket  and carrying a black helmet ( for awhile there, i thought he was a terrorist )came in and said hi to familiar faces on the table next to ours. i overheard him say there was another explosion three blocks away from the earlier incident. shoot! that meant there was no Coffee Mix session after dinner…these terrorists!!!

when we got home i felt a pang of guilt for acting jaded about what happened. i didn’t even check if my baby brother ( hah, he’s 23 for crying out loud! ) was alright. the next day, i felt the guilt go away. there were more, hundreds or maybe thousands of people who seemed to not care at all. they were still swarming the malls ( or mall hehe ), movie houses, groceries etc. etc. well i guess on the standard of scaring people by planting bombs hoping that people stayed in their homes for fear of being victims of these explosions, that shops close for longer than a few hours and God knows what else, the terrorists have failed!the city was business as usual… and boy, was i happy mcdo’s open….i have been busy and would still be busy in the coming days but not too busy for a Coffee Mix session or my precious Dynomite!
