like bus stops

January 11th, 2007

i had a forced morning walk today. Unplanned alright but it turned out to be one of my most smile-ful walks. the night before i decided to be a stokwa and went to cavite. early morning today my friend brought me back to manila, told me to study and dropped me off at the national library. thanks to her i now got the NL ID. i didn’t know which jeep to take to get me home or school thus the forced walk.

i took the del pilar st ( i think )- roxas blvd route til i got to Luneta. I’ve walked the face of Luneta for countless of times but this was first one done in the morning. It turned out, the place was lovelier- it’s a lot cleaner than in the afternoons and evenings. plastic cups, muncher packs and such were out of sight. also, there were guards around, patrolling as in!!! i wonder why they don’t do that in the eve?they should. i mean darkness is any possible felon’s ally.

of course, everyone adores the doves/pigeons congregating in some plaza in italy ( think the movie milan )…i had a bit of "chasing the birds " exerience.not really chasing i mean i stood there and birds were around me. they were so many as in!!! one managed to hurt my ego by feigning fear at my presence and tried to fly but decided to stop after establishing a two feet distance from me. nonetheless, they were all so lovely.

yeah, i can’t believe tourists flock the area so early.there were two groups posing here and there for souvenir photos. some were attentively listening to the tour guide who was telling stories or some trivia about the statues therein ( i was praying silently she didn’t just make up a story for them to be enthused ). anyway i hope they keep coming. i mean all the beautiffication effort manila is doing, it just got to have its return of inestment quick so they can move on to renovating other min parks around.

as i was nearing the taft ave stretch( cross the street and viola i’d be home ), i can’t help but sigh in amazement ( for the nth time ) at lapu-lapu’s gigantic statue. boy that thing must be the most gorgeous of all atatues in the world. it’s half naked ( as opposed to many whose things are for everyon to see ) but it’s got perfectly toned muscles. and were talking of an age and time when there were no fitness firsts yet.

i didn’t end up home eventually. thanks to my craving for a good cup of coffee. now i’m in school writing this! silly!

    hi ruth,

it was an experience indeed. i think i would do the same if i were in that situation. better walk as long as it’s day time. i know i would have more of that here if i’ll go out often by myself. but i don’t cause i can’t be as adventurous as you are. way to go, girl!
