rings, rings,rings

January 18th, 2007

i have been scouting for rings lately. rings because i want some nice bling on my finger. the ones i used to have either got lost thanks to my carelessness or have found their way to sungate pawnshop.

i covet the diamond ( or something like it ) studded ring korina sanchez once wore on her show.must be around 1/4 inch wide like a person standing 50 meters away won’t notice but he will notice the ring.beautiful but haven’t really found it or something like it yet.

the other ring i have been looking for is the kind lisa kudrow had on friends.  antique.big. nice on the forefinger.gives one a witchy feeling. this too is elusive.

recently a very good friend introduced me to a singleringen or a ring for singles.it’s the newest craze. one can wear it to tell the whole world you’re single and you’re damn proud of it ( kinda like hey-i’m-single-and-i-want-it-that-way ) or tell the world  that you’re available ( the ring doing the talking  ). it’s a nice  and pretty stylish silver ring encrusted with an azure acrylic.best of all it’s got code/serial number registrable online. the purpose of the latter’s nothing more than giving you a friendster-ish feeling because it allows you to track the growing singleringen network. pity, it’s become so popular there are no more sizes for women.

pretty obviously i have no luck with rings. the only very available, very cheap, very accessible ring is the oishi onion ring snack i don’t even like…i will never….

got me thinking…do we need a ring to label us as something? a wedding ring - hey, i’m married. a single’s ring - hey, i’m single. what if i’m an unfortunate victim of neither, what ring do i wear?

if i were a spartan or want to be spartan, i’d say no we don’t. somehow society has found just all sorts of weird constructs and we get caught up in all these we can’t even differentiate what’s necessary and what’s not ( sometimes) =).

What handy posted reminded me of the “one ring that rules them all” in Lord of the Rings.

I guess I’m not yet in the mood for marriage yet ruthie?!
