different valentine

i’m still single but i wasn’t dateless on valentine’s day (week actually) . before THE DAY my good friend/travel agent/coffee buddy/dinner and movie partner chu’s invited me to this singles valentine even in katipunan. he said he’s seen it over at jessica zafra’s blog or something. we thought it’s interesting so we went. when we got there, really the place is interesting ( as in the tone and feeling this girl in notting hill had when she tasted hugh grant’s coffee). the place was full of art pieces which we tried to figure while we were looking around and having dinner. for a single’s event it was not bad. there was break-up letter reading every after a couple of songs from the band. the best part were really gabe’s jokes and yeah the songs…. funny, funny renditions of some popular songs ( oh it’s sad to belong to no one when no one comes along….)and those originally written by the guitar man i know were funny but i really can’t recall the lyrics. at the end of the night i could not decide whether i had a blast or what. it was a different experience, certainly not the usual, safe valentine outing.

a couple of days later, i was again on a date ( actually dates…there were 14 of them ). this i think is one of the most extreme things i ever did. upon chu’s prodding i joined this speed dating in makati covered by the etc channel. i never could say no to chu ( i think ) so i let him convince me to join because he needed company. i finally said yes when he assured me  it won’t be anything like the one i saw in the movie "hitch". he said it’s just going to be a socialization where people meet people and that we ( as in chu, myself and heidee ) won’t really be separated, that we would be together the whole night. uber wrong. it went exactly like the speed dating in "hitch".  during dinner before the actual dating, i was seriously freaked out. during the registration i wanted so much to go home. the thought of putting up this kind of business in zamboanga was that which got me through the night. i now have the pointers i need. save for 13 uninteresting / monggo ( 1 of the 14 was ok , sensible but i suspect not one that can really keep me interested) dates everything was OK. i had an instant crush on conrad (the host who did a few amazing magic tricks, very very tall and lean guy.my type), free dinner, unlimited drinks, free loot bag from sponsors, the annoying mime, the smooth band silk, funny sam oh and heidee’s cam. this experience blew my mind. happy valentine’s all!
