“WWHHHATTT???”
i have the houselet all to myself this whole week because my housemate’s gone to bagiuo. i’ m happy and sad ( not really sad but more like bored ).happy because he promised a lot of "pasalubong" ( i’m a sucker for pasalubong ). sad/bored because i’ve gotten used to the late eve conversations the give us good laughs really. the last topic we had was how insane our elections can be. there’s the perpetual issue of political prostitutes/ turn coats, how one candidate can say some awful, heartbreaking comments about a former party-mate after having sucked real good the latter’s resources ( and God knows what else )to be where he is and maintain his position. and yeah, what about nuisance candidates? eddie gil.lord, i can’t figure how screwy that guy is. i can’t believe what people go through to get attention!
i’m not really in the know as far as this year’s election is but i’m quite aware of who are running ( or who wanted to or have been courted to run but for some unknown reason have or might’ve dropped the idea ). few weeks ago, while in a cab i learned through the am radio that rez cortez, richard gomez, laarni enriquez among others were running! i was like " WWHHHHAAAATTT??? ". certainly getting yourself a pol sci degree doesn’t guarantee that you’d be a good public servant but for crying out loud, what’s gotten into these people’s head? i can’t figure why they would run or even considered running.
a really good friend told me when she came here for business " i’m gonna vote straight artista ". again i said " WWHHHAAAATTT??? are you kidding me?". she’s serious and asked me " what have our idols in the senate done? what has arroyo, drilon done? do you know?" then she added " at least i’ll have fun knowing and watching all the artista politicians and i won’t have expectations because i know they don’t know anything. MAN THAT GOT ME THINKING. ( a caveat: i’ve used quotation marks not because i really directly quoted her for what she said. i’ve actually paraphrased/translated our convo but it’s easier writing about it with the aid of the mark. i think it makes this entry more alive although that’s highly contestable…whatever you know? )
i do care about the future of this country. i might’ve changed my outlook about the whole migration issue but hey i still am patriotic ( i just need to work on being proactive ) and i’ll try my very best to research on who would best be in those positions regardless of which party they come from, the ones who can work with people regardless of which party they come from but has only the good of this country and its citizens in mind. then there’s something that goes in the way of my trying to be proactive: do my ideal politicians actually exist? or do we just have nuisance candidates according to comelec standards, candidates who have passed comelec requirements but act like nuisance candidate anyway and politicians i look up to for their intellect and experience but could barely do something to help us move forward? i am really wondering and seriously i have some serious researching to do.
