tarlac escapade

April 20th, 2007

i can’t say i enjoyed my tarlac trip considering i spent 18 hour trying to finish my paper in international relations. but it is unfair to also say i didn’t have a nice time. i don’t look for so much in a place really. when i visit, i just like to look around, eat, watch the locals…really the basic things. i went to tarlac last april 15-17 to watch the first PIDC.i’ve missed the zamboanga kids debate so i went to take a peek. didn’t get the chance watch them because i arrived late but anyway i thought the final round between ateneo de manila and up diliman really rocked ( or maybe because it’s been two years since i last attented a tourney). i like the so-yspeak-ish motion.

i took a bus from sta cruz manila, not sure where exactly in tarlac i was gonna get down, so imagine the horror of the "kundoktor" when he asked " saan sila " i said " tarlac" po. and i realized, he was asking where in tarlac exactly because the fare varies depending on where in tarlac one’s gonna alight. anyway, he charged me the maximum fare for my stupidity. when we got to dau papanga i saw a PIDC tarp, so i knew i was to get down to luisita.

luisita is a pretty town i think. it’s not congested, there were so much green between the main town area to the hotel in hacienda luisita. i have a propensity of comparing a plave i visit to my little, beautiful, romantic zamboanga city. i felt really envious of the fact that luisita has starbucks, max, pancake house, pizza hut among others. "yan luya yo poko na dol mas karay rico sila". what really upped my soul was the fact that zamboanga city has  a relatively better shopping malls and our food’s better by all standards.

i think what added to the tarlac charm’s the fact that the place is really clean. i could barely see "basura" around. it says a lot about how disciplined people are compared to people here in the metro and yes, even in my beautiful, romantic zamboanga city.

despite the heat and noynoyand kris’ aquino’s campaign posters, i think i would go back there and really explore the place. i think it’s an amazing thing to try to get to know  places here in this country like how one tries to get to know a boy or a girl one wants to be on steady with.
